Ayatollah Khomeini’s saying, quoted above, reads: “He put himself to the service of Islam and Muslims.” Through visual metaphors, this mural equates the martyr to the candle’s everlasting flame and to the butterfly or moth that seeks to extinguish itself in the love of God.
